4 Housing Market Trends to Keep Your Eye on This Summer

housing market trends 4As we gaze into the "Housing Market Trends Crystal Ball," what will happen to the US housing market in the next year? Here are a few of the possible trends that the industry analysts are predicting may occur:

  1. Stability will Return - As home prices finally begin to hit bottom and flatten out, look for the overall market to return to a point of greater stability. This is already happening in several key markets throughout the Country, and should be fairly commonplace by this same time next year.
  2. RE-FI's (refinance mortgages) gain More Momentum - Look for the Feds to make further changes and improvements to programs like HARP, encouraging more underwater homeowners to take advantage of lower interest rates and reduced monthly payments.
  3. Low Interest Rates will Reign - Historically low interest rates will continue to be offered, providing tremendous opportunities for Buyers and Investors.
  4. Short Sales actually get Shorter - Banks and Mortgage Loan Service companies will finally begin to improve their processing efficiencies, resulting in attracting more potential Buyers towards short sale and foreclosure properties.

As you can see, the future of the US housing market will offer some tremendous opportunities both for homeowners and investors. Let the mortgage professionals at Amerifirst help you chart a course for successfully achieving your home buying or investment portfolio goals.

Let us also remember that every 40 years or so the U.S. goes through a recession. Knowing that, we know that housing prices are bound to rebound. In some key markets, as in San Diego we have seen median home prices rise over the last 3 months, which is a strong indication that the housing market is beginning to stabalize. I would say the next 2-3 years will still be great for first time home buyers.
