This is such a cool design. This deck would be the talk of your friends for years to come after a cookout here. I love the rustic feel, with the stumps for seating and the rock wall with the tree coming out of it.

If a deck is a great home improvement idea, a unique deck is a phenomenal idea. This design pictured is a fun design and might be right for you. But if it's not, you can still take something away from it.

The "roof" above the sitting area is great because it helps throw shadows across the seating area so your guests (and you) are not baking in direct sunlight.

Every great deck design includes a space for gathering. In this case, it's a long dining table. It could also be benches or other chairs for sitting around and visiting. Or you could have a spot for an outdoor fireplace.

Also, your deck doesn't have to be huge to be a good design. You can make your home improvements count if they're well-thought out and fit the right situation you're in at your home. This deck is not enormous, but it solves the problem of outdoor dining perfectly.
