Why is Educating Home Buyers Important to AmeriFirst Home Mortgage?
Posted by Dan Moyle on Fri, Sep 14, 2012
One of our key principles at AmeriFirst Home Mortgage is educating home buyers. Yes, we love a sold house. But getting there is a long process. And sometimes, it doesn't end with AmeriFirst as the lender. And that's okay. Our mortgage consultants are more than loan orginators. They're often a "Trusted Advisor for Life" with borrowers. Even when a home buyer ends up with another lender, we don't take it personally. Yes, we want your business. But we also want you to be a powerful home buyer educated in the housing market. Educated buyers have better experiences. Here's a story from our Crawfordville Florida mortgage experts.
Cynthia and Ralph Thomas are a husband and wife team in the Florida panhandle. With help from Ann Shook and Wendy Barton, this branch helps Florida home buyers get their credit mortgage ready, find the right mortgage loan option during pre-approval, and secure financing to buy the perfect house.
Recently Cynthia shared with us here at AmeriFirst that a particular home buyer went out of his way to thank them for their help. The key here is that the buyer had to go with a different lender, so could not become an AmeriFirst borrower. Despite the roadblock, Cynthia stuck by this home buyer to help him and his family get mortgage-ready. Because of this philosophy of educating home buyers and being a true "home buyer resource center," Cynthia received this email:
Mrs. Thomas,
Good Afternoon, I want to personally thank you for your time and diligent effort in helping my family secure a home loan. With you knowing this being my first home you were very informative and patient with me during this process. With that being said, as I stated in my voicemail it is with a heavy heart I have to inform you that the Tallahassee Lenders Consortium will not allow me to use an outside lender. They have a list of lenders that I must use in order to receive the down payment assistance. I asked and begged so I may stay with you and to no end they are set on using the list of lenders provided.
Again, thank you for the time and effort you dedicated to my first home buying experience and hopefully we can work together in the future. Again, I want to lucidly explain and express, I am not choosing to work with another lender by choice. With no reservation I will not hesitate to refer anyone your direction, thank you for everything and I hope you and your family enjoy your holidays, God Bless.

Then Conrad sent our Florida branch this card:

Cynthia received the card and emailed Conrad right away. She shared with us that the card came at the perfect time, amid a hectic week. She was able to stop, breathe a bit and be blessed by Conrad's gratitude. Here's what she emailed him:
Conrad,
I received the card today. Thank you so very much. It was truly a blessing that came out of the blue . Your kind words really touched my heart. I am so very proud of you for sticking with it and getting into the home you so deserved. You have a beautiful family and I am so glad you have stayed in touch. I wish you nothing but happy memories and many years of joy in your home. Good Lord willing, I will always be here for you if you ever need to run anything by me.
Congratulations and Thank you so much for thinking of me!
Warm regards,
Cynthia
This is just one example of an AmeriFirst Home Mortgage branch taking the time to advise someone, even when they aren't an official client. It's a great story that makes us proud to work at AmeriFirst Home Mortgage, where educating home buyers isn't just a cliché, it's a way of life.
